WHEN TO VISIT UGANDA

When to Visit Uganda?

Uganda is a year-round destination, offering different experiences across its distinct dry and wet seasons. Each period has its own charm, depending on your interests—whether it’s gorilla trekking, birdwatching, or game viewing.

Dry Season (June–August, December–February):
This is the best time for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga, as trails are drier and easier to navigate. Wildlife viewing in national parks like Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, and Kidepo is also excellent, with animals gathering near water sources. Expect pleasant temperatures (24–28°C), clear skies, and lower humidity—ideal for outdoor adventures.

Wet Season (March–May and September–November):
These months bring lush greenery, dramatic skies, and superb birdwatching, as migratory species arrive. Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking is still possible and often rewarding due to fewer tourists. The scenery is spectacular, but some roads and trails may become slippery, especially in remote areas.

Tourist Seasons:

  • Low Season: March to May – fewer tourists, discounted rates, and greener landscapes.

  • Mid-Season: September to November – occasional rain but great birding and fair prices.

  • High Season: June to August and December to February – peak for gorilla trekking and wildlife safaris, with the most visitors and higher prices.

No matter when you visit, Uganda’s natural beauty and biodiversity ensure unforgettable experiences throughout the year.
